THE STAKES

For UNLV ... The Rebels have lost too many games this season to be bowl eligible, but a win over BYU, in the Cougars' final year in the league, would be a big deal.

For BYU ... The Cougars can't afford a loss today if they want to remain bowl-eligible.

THE TRENDS

For UNLV ... The Rebels have been outscored by a combined 93-10 in the first half of road losses at Idaho, West Virginia and Colorado State.

For BYU ... The Cougars have won only two of the last four meetings against UNLV in Provo.

THE EDGE

UNLV: If the Rebels can force turnovers, and get big plays out of its talented wide receivers, they'll have a shot.

BYU: The Cougars need to get off to a fast start, control the clock with a strong running game, and avoid turnovers to put themselves in position to win the game.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Jake Heaps, BYU: The true freshman quarterback is hoping to lead BYU to back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Will his wide receivers and tight ends provide him some help?

KEY MATCHUP

BYU'S defensive line VS. UNLV'S offensive line: The Cougars' D-line is looking forward to putting pressure on Rebel quarterback Omar Clayton.

INJURY REPORT

UNLV: Center Andrew Mack could be sidelined for the remainder of the season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy last week. Wide receiver Marcus Sullivan could be back after missing two games due to a bruised chest.

BYU: Linebacker Jordan Pendleton (knee) is possible. Linebacker Brandon Ogletree (ankle) is probable.
