CROSS COUNTRY: The Lewis-Clark State men's and and women's cross country teams are set to defend their titles at the 2010 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships today in Great Falls, Mont. at the Eagle Falls Golf Course. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. with the women's race beginning at 11:45 a.m.
In addition to Lewis-Clark State, teams from Carroll College, Montana Tech, Rocky Mountain College, the University of Great Falls and Westminster College will compete for individual and team conference titles.
The Lewis-Clark men's team is ranked 14th with the University of Great Falls ranked at No. 23. Carroll College is ranked No. 15 in the final regular-season coaches' poll with Lewis-Clark No. 24 and Rocky Mountain College receiving votes.
The men will compete in a five-mile (eight-kilometer) run, while the women will decide their conference titles with a 3.1-mile (five-kilometer) run. The teams claiming a team title automatically qualify for the national meet Nov. 20 at Vancouver, Wash. Those runners not on the championship teams will qualify for nationals if they finish in the top 15.
