High school baseball: 1A All-State team

MVP — Randy Ellett, Wayne, Jr.

He was the winning pitcher in all three of Wayne's state tournament victories, and drove in all of the team's runs in a 3-1 win over Panguitch in the 1A state championship game. He had a 0.94 earned run average.

Class 1A First Team

PITCHERS

Chris Manzanares, Wayne, Sr., Had seven wins, and had a save in the state title game.

Riley Miller, Panguitch, Sr., Won eight games, and batted .383.

Tanner Heaton, West Ridge, Sr., Had six pitching wins and 17 extra-base hits.

Taran Taylor, Tintic, Sr., Won six games, also had three home runs and five doubles.

INFIELDERS

Cameron Fawson, Panguitch, Sr., Hit .418, drove in 32 runs and had 14 doubles.

Ty Rees, Wayne, So., Led state champion Badgers in hitting during regular season.

Wade Brown, Tabiona, Sr., Hit .577, drove in 32 runs, stole 19 bases, hit five home runs.

Kevin Cardinal, West Ridge, Sr., Had 12 extra-base hits and four pitching wins.

OUTFIELDERS

Brennan Rees, Wayne, Sr., Overcame injuries, recorded 11 extra-base hits.

Lance Maxwell, Valley, Sr., Leader and best all-around athlete on his team.

CATCHER

Justin Johnson, Green River, Jr., Hit .510, had 18 doubles and stole 16 bases.

DESIGNATED HITTER

Kelton Price, Piute, Sr., Hit .509, and was team's ace and leader.
