WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: OGDEN — After playing an extremely road-heavy non-conference schedule a season ago, the Wildcats are hoping the Purple Palace will help them make a splash during the 2010-11 season.
Weber State University women's basketball coach Carla Taylor has announced her squad's schedule for the upcoming season, a slate that will see the Purple and White take to the Dee Events Center court 14 times.
"Our preseason schedule brings some great teams to the Dee Events Center,"Taylor said. "After travelling to nine of our 13 preseason games last year, we are now fortunate to have Oregon State, Boise State, Utah, Utah State and Nevada all on our home schedule this year."
Weber State opens the regular season on Nov. 12 at San Jose State, and then hosts Utah on Nov. 16, followed by a short road trip to Utah Valley on Nov. 23 and then a home matchup with Utah State on Nov. 27.
The Wildcats will host Oregon State on Dec. 14, Boise State on Dec. 18 and Nevada on Dec. 30, with road games at Brigham Young (Dec. 11), Southern Utah (Dec. 21) and Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 3).
Weber State will also participate in the four-team Air Force Academy tournament on Dec. 3-4 at Colorado Springs, Colo., facing Texas State and Bryant University.
WSU begins Big Sky Conference play on Jan. 8 against Northern Arizona, and hosts its first five Big Sky games.
