If the Halloween spooks and chills are a bit to much for your family, maybe it's time to settle in for something a little more tame; like one of the children's offerings on stage this week:

"Frog Prince," Nov. 5-8, The Children's Theatre, 237 S. State.

The first story in the Brothers' Grimm collection, this is the story of a spoiled princess who reluctantly befriends a frog, after dropping a gold ball into his pond.

Show times vary, matinees available. Tickets are $12 (801-532-6000 or www.tctheatre.org).

"Oleander Manor," Salt Lake Counties Theatre Arts Youth Program, Nov. 4-6, Copperview Recreation Center, 8446 S. Harrison St., Midvale.

Featuring more than 25 youths from around the Salt Lake Valley, this play is fun for the whole family.

Meet the quirky Oleander family as they try to stop the sell of their ancestral home.

Shows are nightly, 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 (www.midvaletheatre.com).

"Little Women," Nov. 5-26, The Empress Theatre, 9104 W. 2700 South, Magna.

Based on Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, come enjoy the adventures of the March sisters as they grow up in Civil War-era America. Starring Brittany Boynton, Halie Lund, April Henderson and Lindsay Boucher.

Shows are Monday, Friday and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9-$11 (801-347-7373 or www.empresstheatre.com).

"Dancing at Lughnasa," Pinnacle Acting Company, Nov. 4-20, Midvale Performing Arts Center, 695 W. 7720 South.

Five unmarried sisters eke out their lives in a small Irish village in 1936. Their spare existence is interrupted by music — they get their first radio. The women dance and sing in the kitchen while the 7-year-old illegitimate son of one of the sisters tells the story of the women who raised him.

Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $13-$15, (www.pinnacleactingcompany.org).
