BYU raises tuition for 2011-12 school year BYU going up 3%

PROVO — BYU is increasing tuition by just over 3 percent for the 2011-12 academic year. The increase is necessary to cover the rising costs associated with running the university and its programs, BYU announced Friday.

Undergraduate tuition for the next school year will be $2,280 per semester, a 3.2 percent increase from $2,210. Graduate students will pay $2,880 each semester instead of $2,790.

Law school and graduate School of Management students will see a 3.1 percent tuition increase, bumping their cost $160 to $5,300.

Tuition for non-LDS students will also jump the same percentage rates, with undergraduates paying $4,560, graduate students paying $5,760, and law and business graduate students paying $10,600.

Spring and summer terms will also have the tuition boost with undergraduate tuition now at $1,140 and graduate tuition at $1,440.

The last tuition hike was 3 percent for the 2010-11 school year, taking undergraduate tuition from $2,145 to $2,210.
