BASKETBALL: The Weber State University men's and women's basketball teams get their first taste of action in front of a crowd this season during the annual Purple and White scrimmage game tonight at 7 p.m. inside the Dee Events Center..
WSU men's coach Randy Rahe and women's coach Carla Taylor will each introduce their teams, as well as speak briefly on their respective upcoming seasons. After the introductions, the women will play a scrimmage, followed by the men.
Rahe, who will be kicking off his fifth season at the helm of the Weber State men's team, and the Wildcats were picked as the preseason favorite in the Big Sky Conference race after winning the past two regular-season championships.
The men's team returns six letterwinners and two starters from the 2009-10 season.
Taylor is tipping off her 23rd season in charge of the WSU women's program and is the longest-tenured active Division I women's basketball coach in Utah.
