KSFI, KSL back on top of latest Arbitron ratings

Summer's over, the kids are back in school. Is that why the latest Arbitron ratings for the month of September show a traditional ranking again?

KSFI ("FM-100") and KSL (AM-1160/FM-102.7) are back on top with percentages of 7.6 and 7.2, respectively.

KXRK ("X-96"), now third at 7.1 percent, led the ratings for July and August, the first time since the early 1990s that stations other than KSL or KSFI had been No. 1 in the all-age rating estimates.

Were the unusual summer rankings a kids-out-of-school kind of thing?

Time will tell, but "X-96" is still hot on the heels of the perennial radio juggernauts in the Salt Lake market.

Some Internet streaming versions of stations are now starting to appear in the ratings, and some more distant stations — particularly several from Cache County — have also been showing up recently in the Salt Lake-area rankings. Some high-definition sub-carrier stations are also in the rankings.

KTKK ("K-Talk) has improved slightly under new leadership in the latest estimates.

In the latest rankings, KUBL (FM-93.3) comes in fourth at 5.9 percent, followed by KZHT (FM-97.1) at 4.7 and KODJ (FM-94.1) at 4.1

Rounding out the top 10 are KOSY (FM-106.5) and KUDD (FM-107.9) tied for seventh at 4.0, and KRSP (FM-103.5) and KNRS (FM-105.7) deadlocked in ninth at 3.9 percent.
