VOLLEYBALL: The University of Utah volleyball team faces a challenging two-match road trip this weekend at Mountain West Conference opponents TCU and New Mexico. The Utes begin their trip Thursday at TCU. First serve from Fort Worth is set for 6:30 p.m. CT with a TCU student production being aired live on The Mtn. Utah makes its way to Albuquerque on Saturday for a 2 p.m. MT match against New Mexico.

Freshman middle blocker Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) led the Utah offense against UNLV and Air Force last weekend. Redd posted a team-high 19 kills in six sets against UNLV and Air Force for a 3.17 kill-per-set average, a mark that ranked second on the team over the weekend. Redd also boasted a team-high .552 hitting percentage on the attack (minimum four attack attempts). Against UNLV, Redd led a balanced Ute offense with nine kills on 13 swings and only two errors for a .538 hitting percentage, while contributing a pair of blocks. Redd registered her sixth double-digit-kill performance this season Saturday against Air Force with 10 kills on 16 attempts and just one error for a season-high .562 clip. Redd now leads the MWC's overall statistics with a .379 hitting percentage this season and she also tops the conference-only stats with a .443 mark through six league matches this year.

Junior outside hitter Jennifer Lanting (Corcoran, Calif.) went off for a career-high 13 kills against Air Force. She needed just 18 swings and only committed one attack error for a career-high .667 hitting percentage, which was .200 above her previous personal best.

After registering eight kills in Thursday's win over UNLV, Karolina Bartkowiak (Aurora, Ill.) now has 957 career kills which leaves her only 43 away from becoming the 12th member of Utah's 1,000-kill club.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: The University of Utah women's soccer team (4-12-1, 2-1-1 MWC) hosts a pair of Mountain West Conference matches this week that could have a big impact on the final regular-season standings. With just three games remaining before the conference tournament, all three at home, the Utes have a good opportunity to drive toward the top of the league table. Utah will host San Diego State (5-8-3, 3-1-0 MWC) Thursday at 7 p.m. MT, then takes on UNLV (10-5-0, 2-2-0 MWC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Utah is 11-4-3 all-time against San Diego State, including a 4-2-1 mark at home. The two teams clashed twice last year, with both games going into double-overtime and just one goal separating the two squads. The Aztecs netted a golden goal in the second extra frame of an MWC Tournament semifinal matchup in Provo, Utah, to win 2-1. The regular-season meeting in San Diego resulted in a 1-1 draw. The last time Utah and SDSU met in Salt Lake City, the Utes captured a 4-1 victory in 2008.
