DRAPER — The man driving the vehicle that struck and killed cyclist Elizabeth "Bunny" Bradley near Highland Drive, in Draper, had a normal, therapeutic amounts of the narcotic diazepam in his system, according to Draper police.
William Harper's toxicology results from the July 14 accident were released Monday, countering the conclusions officers made at the scene after conducting a field sobriety test. At that time, officers concluded that Harper was likely impaired while operating his vehicle. Toxicology results reveal that Harper had 0.12 micrograms per millileter of the drug in his system.
Bradley was traveling with a group of nine other cyclists when Harper's pickup truck drifted into oncoming traffic and hit another car. The impact of the collision knocked a tire off Harper's vehicle, causing him to lose control, and propelled his truck into Bradley.
Harper died Sept. 28 from a heart attack, and police are no longer pursuing charges.
