WOMEN'S SOCCER: Aggie soccer concludes a season-high, four-match homestand Sunday against first-place Idaho at Bell Soccer Field at 12:15 p.m.
In its last match, Utah State (7-4-5, 3-0-1 WAC) tied Boise State 0-0 in double overtime. Idaho now stands alone in first place in the Western Athletic Conference with a 13-3-0 overall record a 4-0-0 mark in league matches. The Aggies and the Vandals are the only two teams in the WAC without a conference loss.
Utah State is 11-1 all-time against the Vandals with the only loss coming in 2001 in double overtime when Idaho won, 3-2, in Logan when both teams were in the Big West Conference. USU has not lost to the Vandals since both teams joined the WAC for the 2005 season. Last year, the match went into double overtime with the Utah State defeating Idaho, 2-1, in Moscow. Senior forward Lauren Hansen still stands on the cusp of history. Hansen stands alone in second place in career goals scored with 34. She is one goal away from tying Jayme Gordy (1997-2000) for first place in career goals. She still has 77 career points, tying her with Gordy's career total.
Following the match against Idaho, the Aggies will hit the road for their final two regular-season road matches of the year. Utah State will face Fresno State on Friday at 8 p.m. and conclude the road trip at San Jose State on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: USU concluded their fall 2010 campaign, Saturday. The women completed action in the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional Championship hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas.
Junior Julie Tukuafu was the lone Aggie to compete Saturday. Tukuafu fell to New Mexico's Nikolina Grbac, 6-0, 6-2, in the third round of the consolation singles flight. Tukuafu finishes fall with a 4-4 singles record.
Senior Hailey Swenson led the USU in singles competition with an impressive 10-3 record. Sophomore Jaclyn West followed with a 6-3 singles record. In doubles competition, senior Taylor Perry and West finished the fall with a perfect 4-0 record.
Utah State will began spring competition in January, 2011.
MEN'S TENNIS: Utah State's men's tennis tea, wrapped up action in the Utah Invitational on Friday, highlighted by seniors Jakob Asplund and Nikita Ryashchenko advancing to the semifinals of the singles consolation draw with Asplund capturing second-place in the singles consolation flight.
