WOMEN'S SOCCER: At Orem, Katey Turner scored two goals to surpass 20 for her career and Utah Valley used a big offensive attack to defeat South Dakota 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Clyde Field.

Turner scored the first two goals of the game and Nicole Archibald Spencer also added a first-half goal as the Wolverines (6-7-1, 3-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Senior Day. UVU finished with season-highs of 37 shots — second-most all-time — and 22 shots on goal.

"We did generate a lot of attack. I would have like to have been a little bit more accurate but it's great to score four goals and get a conference win," said head coach Brent Anderson. "Looking at the conference from top to bottom now we've got our work cut out for us as we go out on the road."

Turner, who ranks second all-time in goals scored at Utah Valley, scored her 20th career goal just six minutes into the game on an assist from Lauren Bluth. Turner got the ball at the top of the box and faked the keeper to her right before finding the right corner with her left foot.

She added her 21st career goal in the 14th minute before Spencer made it 3-0 in the 26th minute on assists from Danielle Anderson and Kendra Buchanan.

Jenny Teslow got the Coyotes (4-8-2, 1-2) on the board in the 28th minute with her seventh goal of the season and the score remained 3-1 until a penalty kick was converted -- the Wolverines' first of the season -- by Regan Clifford in the 79th minute.

The senior class of Danielle Anderson, Spencer, Andi Bagdan, Bluth, Hailey Brown, Buchanan, Taryn Eldredge, Turner and Sara Walker have won two conference regular season and two conference tournament championships during their careers and have gone 22-2-1 against conference opponents in four years.

"This is actually our first recruiting class," said Anderson of his nine seniors. "I'm very proud of them, they've worked very hard and have had great careers here at UVU."

Utah Valley's unbeaten streak has now reached four games during a three-game winning streak. The Wolverines are also unbeaten in 12 games during the past two seasons against Great West opponents.

UVU will play its final home game of the season on Monday at noon against North Dakota State in a non-conference match. They'll then play the final three games of the Great West regular season on the road beginning Friday at North Dakota before a rematch with South Dakota on Oct. 24.
