ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico defender Elizabeth Lambert became an Internet sensation when she was caught on video last November yanking a BYU player to the ground by the ponytail.
Saturday night's sequel was just a well-played game.
Lambert stayed on the bench as the Lobos beat BYU 1-0 in double overtime in their first game since the widely publicized hair-pulling fracas. The senior was suspended for the first two games of the season and has played sparingly since.
Lambert grabbed BYU's Kassidy Shumway by her ponytail and yanked her to the ground in last year's Mountain West Conference tournament game, but she also was the recipient of some rough play.
The rematch was tightly called by the officials.
