GARDEN CITY, Rich County — The Utah Highway Patrol says a driver was killed when he jumped from a runaway truck after the brakes failed on the way down a canyon road.
The UHP says the dump truck was pulling a trailer loaded with asphalt between Logan Canyon and Garden City.
The agency says the driver, 35-year-old Andrew J. Benik, of Clearfield, jumped out of the truck and suffered fatal head injuries while the driverless truck crashed into trees and vegetation before coming to a stop.
The delivery was bound for Wyoming.
No other vehicles were involved in Saturday's crash.
