OGDEN — An fire caused by faulty electrical work had Ogden firefighters racing to save a home Sunday.
Fire crews were called to 2675 Jackson Ave. about 11:30 a.m. They found heavy flames and smoke coming from the first floor and the attic of the home.
Firefighters entered the first floor but were pushed back by the heat and flames. It took about 25 minutes to douse the flames from the back of the home, Ogden Fire Battalion Chief Steve Splinter said.
Several hours later, investigators were able to determine the fire originated from faulty electrical work in wires coming from the basement to the first floor.
Crews confirmed the house was unoccupied. Neighbors said the home had been vacant for a while except for some possible transients in the area.
Officials estimated the fire caused about $50,000 damage.
