MIAMI — Jermaine Thomas scored a career-high three touchdowns, Chris Thompson rushed for 158 yards and No. 23 Florida State ran out to a huge lead on the way to beating No. 13 Miami 45-17 on Saturday night.
Thomas had touchdown runs of 1 and 6 yards, plus caught a 17-yard scoring pass from Christian Ponder — all in the game's first 21 minutes for the Seminoles (5-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Thompson had a 90-yard touchdown run — the longest ground gain ever against Miami — with 4:24 left to seal it for Florida State, which also got TDs from Lonnie Pryor and Rodney Smith. Ponder threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Jacory Harris was 19 of 47 for 225 yards for Miami (3-2, 1-1), plus ran for a score. Damien Berry ran for 101 yards and a touchdown.
