AMERICAN FORK — Deputies are still investigating why the body of a 44-year-old man last seen in Provo was found drowned in Utah Lake.
A duck hunter noticed a floating body in Utah Lake between the boat harbors of Lindon and American Fork on Wednesday. The victim was later identified a Jimmy John Martinez, who for the past few months had been homeless.
Utah County sheriff's deputies believe the victim was in the water for several days based on the condition of the body. He was last seen in Provo on Sept. 28, but authorities have no indication how he ended up drowned in Utah Lake.
Officials are asking anyone who may have seen Martinez before or after Sept. 28 to contact dispatchers at 801-851-4100.
