SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was killed in a rollover accident on I-80 Wednesday afternoon.
About 12:20 p.m. a vehicle in the outside right lane rear-ended another vehicle on eastbound I-80 heading toward southbound I-15 and rolled. The driver — identified as 45-year-old Michelle L. Kingston — was ejected in the crash. She was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray where she later succumbed to her injuries, Utah Highway Patrol troopers reported.
Officials said the victim was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
"Every trip: buckle up," UHP trooper Todd Johnson said. "A seat belt will keep you inside the vehicle where you have a greater chance of surviving a crash."
The outside lane was closed for a few hours as troopers investigated the crash.
