CLEARFIELD — California officials have located a 13-year-old Clearfield girl who was listed as endangered and missing after family reported she may have run away with a 30-year-old man.
Astrid Valdivia, a student at North Davis Jr. High, had left a note for her family on Sept. 24 saying she was running away from home and staying with a friend. She was last seen at school by her 15-year-old sister. New information from the family indicated that she may have developed a relationship with 30-year-old Anthony Allen Martinez.
Police reported Tuesday that Martinez has a history of violence.
The Davis County Child Abduction Response Team and Clearfield police detectives identified a possible location for Martinez Tuesday night and Sacramento officers responded to the area and located both Martinez and Valdivia.
Police said Martinez attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers and was taken into custody for investigation of resisting arrest and child endangerment. Clearfield police plan to seek an arrest warrant for Martinez for child kidnapping.
The victim is safe and will be reunited with her family as soon as possible.
