Deja vu

Stop if you've heard this before: Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer is out for the next eight weeks.

The former Jazz forward says he tripped on a bag in his home and broke his hand.

Possible things Jazz fans might say to their friends in Chicago:

"Bag-related mishaps are the 109,242nd most common type of household injury."

"Boozer's out? What took him so long?"

"We told you so."

Heavenly day

Jazz officials were shocked Saturday when 6,000 or so fans showed up to the team's public scrimmage at ESA. Down the street, another 21,000 people were at the LDS Conference Center.

What does it all mean?

A whole lot of people were having a religious experience of one kind or another.

Man's best friend

Asked if he's being patient with the rookies, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan protested, "I've always been patient — just my demeanor, people think I'm not patient. I'm just like a puppy dog."

A biting, frothing, snarling Rottweiler puppy dog, but still ...

Burden of proof

Utah State's win over BYU last Friday marked its first since 1993 and its second in 28 years.

"I guess we can call it a rivalry now, huh?" said USU coach Gary Andersen.

How about just calling it the law of averages until the Aggies have compiled a little more evidence?

Unconscious

Andersen ended up in a neck brace last week after reportedly jumping up too quickly and blacking out, hitting his head and straining his neck.

Rock On knows the feeling. Same thing happened to him when he flipped on the TV Friday night and saw the Aggies were leading 31-3.

Skater nation

Middle schools around the country are starting to add skateboarding as part of their physical education curriculum.

Proponents say it's good exercise and it is a highly popular P.E. alternative.

Plus, they can always get the shop class to repaint the handrails.

A real ace

Former President George H.W. Bush has been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Rock On predicts next year's inductees will be Carl Spackler, Tin Cup McAvoy, Charles Barkley and the guy who did sand angels in the bunker at the 2009 Masters.

Misspoken

Bronco Mendenhall on BYU's first-half defensive problems against USU: "I think it was a myriad of a couple things."
