Nick Vigil, Fremont, football

This senior almost single-handily led the Silver Wolves past Northridge last Friday night.

He carried the ball 41 times for 172 yards and finished with four touchdowns. His last touchdown came in double overtime and sealed Fremont's 27-21 triumph over the Knights.

Vigil has carried the ball 135 times this season for 835 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"Nick is Nick," said Fremont coach Kory Bosgeiter. "He fights for every yard. He's a great player and a great young man."

His outstanding season is a big reason why Fremont has won six straight and is 6-1 heading this Friday's game at home against Viewmont.

SHANIA HURST, Hurricane, volleyball

What this freshman outside hitter lacks in experience, she makes up for in athletic ability and hard work.

"She is a great competitor and just seems to keep learning and getting better each day," said Tigers coach Daniel McKeehan. "Despite being a freshman, she has shown flashes of brilliance; we are excited for her improvement over the next 4 years."

Hurst led the Tigers to two big wins in region play against Deseret Hills and Canyon View. She earned 33 kills and hit .352 in the two wins. She jump served a 2.12 score with 5 aces.

"She's a hard working kid and she really gets along well with her teammates," said McKeehan.
