GRANTSVILLE — A Grantsville toddler was burned from ears to toes by boiling bath water when he slipped into the tub Sunday.
Emergency responders were called to the 2-year-old's home on Blaine Avenue about 6:32 p.m. after receiving reports of the boy being covered with second and third-degree burns.
The boy's mother had been preparing hot bath water by boiling it on the stove because the hot water heater was not working. The boy slipped into the tub, scalding his skin and causing blisters to form and pop, Grantsville Police officer Carl Peterson said.
Because of his young age, paramedics flew the toddler by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital for treatment as a precaution but said he is expected to survive.
