SALT LAKE CITY — If you thought it was unusually hot in Salt Lake Friday, you were right — it was record-breaking hot at 89 degrees at the Salt Lake International Airport.
That temperature broke the 1996 record of 89 degrees for the date, set back in 1996.
It also tied the record high for the entire month of October in Salt Lake, set on Oct. 3, 1963.
"More hot weather is on tap for Saturday and Sunday, but tropical moisture will mix with a Pacific storm beginning Monday and likely continuing through Thursday," Dan Pope, KSL meteorologist said. "Temperatures will cool to below normal, while the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase. Some areas of the state will be vulnerable to flash flooding and even generalized flooding in this type of pattern."
Salt Lake City will "cool" to 86 degrees both Saturday and Sunday, with some clouds and overnight lows in the mid 50s, according to KSL.
Monday will drop to a daytime high of only 74 degrees and then high temperatures only in the 60s will prevail the rest of the week.
