TAYLORSVILLE — A Salt Lake County woman was killed in a rollover after a truck collided with a small car in Taylorsville about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials say the 24-year-old woman was the passenger in a Toyota 4-Runner that was making a lane change as it travelled east on 5400 South near the intersection with 3200 West. The Toyota collided with a small passenger car that was already in that lane, causing the truck to roll once and ejecting the passenger, Taylorsville Police Sgt. Rod Lowry said.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending family notification, was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition but later passed away.
The victim's family arrived at the scene within minutes and followed her to the hospital.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained only minor injuries and police believe the victim who died was not wearing a seat belt.
"At the very least had she been wearing a seat belt she wouldn't have been ejected," Lowry said. "Seat belts can save lives."
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
