MAGNA — Prosecutors say a Magna man who goes by the name of "Squirrel" faces multiple felonies after he allegedly stabbed a man several times and took his cell phone.
Unified police were called to a residence at 8086 W. 3500 South on a report of a stabbing on Sunday. A man had kicked in the door and demanded the victim tell him the whereabouts of a man who owed him money, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court on Thursday.
The man then stabbed the victim multiple times in the back, neck and face, leaving him critically injured, police said.
Officers used a GPS tracking system to locate the victim's phone and found Mickey Lee Archuleta, 54, covered in blood near 1950 W. South Temple. Archuleta told police he had sold the phone to a prostitute and went to recover it, charges state.
Prosecutors say he admitted that he struggled with the victim and took the man's cell phone.
Archuleta, who was booked into Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, was charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, first-degree felonies; aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor, for allegedly possessing a glass pipe when police found him.
