SALT LAKE CITY— HealthInsight, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care systems in Utah and Nevada, has recognized nine Utah hospitals with its 2010 HealthInsight Quality Award. The award recipients were chosen because they provided excellent care on publicly reported quality of care measures that are used nationwide.
This year's winners are:
Brigham City Community Hospital, in Brigham City
Davis Hospital and Medical Center, in Layton
Dixie Regional Medical Center, in St. George
Heber Valley Medical Center, in Heber City
Mountain View Hospital, in Payson
Mountain West Medical Center, in Tooele
Ogden Regional Medical Center, in Ogden
Sevier Valley Medical Center, in Richfield
The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, in Murray.
In addition, HealthInsight recognized that all hospitals are working to improve the quality of their patient care, singling out four other Utah hospitals that have improved their national rankings in clinical areas.
The Utah hospitals in the "most improved" categories are:
Central Valley Medical Center, in heart failure care
Ogden Regional Medical Center, in most improved overall
Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, in surgical care
University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, in acute myocardial infarction care
University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, in pneumonia care
"We are honored to commend these outstanding hospitals that exemplify the improvement of health care quality and outcomes for the residents of our state," Marc Bennett, HealthInsight president and CEO, said in a press release. "Their commitment to excellence in health care delivery is evidenced by their achievement of this award."
