The Junior League of Salt Lake City is seeking recipes for possible inclusion in the group's fourth League cookbook, which has yet to be titled. The book will focus on recipes that use fresh ingredients as well as traditional family recipes passed down for generations. Slow Food Utah is taking part in "Building a Better Lunchbox," Sept. 25, 1-4 p.m., at the Sorenson Unity Center, 1383 S. 900 West. The event, which is free to the public, features more than 20 interactive booths, cooking demonstrations and food samples, with the focus on helping parents and children make better food choices.
The activity is one of Slow Food USA's "Dig In!" day of action, with the goal of creating a world where food is good for people, the growers and the planet (www.slowfoodusa.org).
EarthFruits Yogurthas opened its flagship location at 44 E. 1230 North, Provo. The self-serve frozen yogurt store offers 18 flavors and more than 80 topping choices. The Downtown Dine O'Round continues through Oct. 2 in 41 participating Salt Lake restaurants. All 41 restaurants offer a fixed-price, three-course dinner for either $15 or $30 per person; 33 of the restaurants are offering a two-item lunch for either $5 or $10.
