MURRAY — The Utah Transit Authority has announced overnight closures and lane restrictions on westbound I-215 this weekend for road restoration work related to the commuter-rail extension project.

All lanes on I-215 westbound will be closed to through traffic Friday night, and the two left lanes will be closed Saturday night. Work will take place each night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

According to a news release, I-215 westbound will be closed from approximately 700 West to 400 West, requiring all westbound motorists to exit at 280 East (Fashion Boulevard). The north and southbound freeway ramps to I-15 from westbound I-215 and the on-ramp at 280 East to I-215 westbound also will be closed.

Motorists wishing to continue west or access I-15 should detour to 280 East, then west on Winchester (6400 South), south on State Street and west on 7200 South. From 7200 South, motorists may access I-15 northbound or southbound and I-215 westbound via the freeway exchange.

Access to I-15 northbound and southbound from I-215 eastbound will not be affected, and no detour will be required for the Saturday closure. In addition, no freeway on- or off-ramps will be affected, but some slowing may occur due to lane restrictions.

For questions regarding this closure, call the UDOT project construction hotline at 888-800-8854. For more information about the FrontRunner extension project, visit www.rideuta.com.
