RIVERDALE, Weber County — Three nominees are being considered for the a vacancy in the Riverdale City Justice Court.
The nominees were chosen by the Weber County Nominating Commission to take over a position that will be open when Judge Michelle Heward's resignation goes into effect Oct. 1.
Riverdale Mayor Bruce Barrows has 30 days to choose between Susan Lewis Hunt, of Fruit Heights, who is on the Judicial Conduct Commission; Trent Nelson, of Kaysville, who is in private practice at a firm that bears his name; and Judge Reuben Renstrom, who already serves in the South Ogden, South Weber and Harrisville Justice Courts.
The public will be allowed to comment on the nominees through Sept. 27.
The mayor has 30 days from Sept. 27 to appoint a judge. The appointments are then subject to confirmation by the Riverdale City Council. Then the appointment must be certified by the Utah Judicial Council.
