SALT LAKE CITY — His Excellency Husain Haqqani, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, is in Salt Lake City as a guest of the LDS Church, with his visit coming in the wake of humanitarian aid provided by the church following recent floods in that country.
Haqqani is scheduled to visit church headquarters Tuesday and meet with LDS Humanitarian Services representatives.
Last week, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shipped an estimated 400,000 pounds of food, blankets and other relief aid to Pakistan. While the LDS Church donated the physical goods, Islamic Relief oversaw the shipping and distribution.
