SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake woman was charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault after she allegedly stabbed her husband with a steak knife and then washed off the knife.
The defendant, Valorie Lynn Smith, was arguing with her husband at their Salt Lake apartment, near 900 South and 200 West, last week, when she grabbed the knife and stabbed him in the chest, according to documents filed in the 3rd District Court on Thursday. The knife wound reportedly perforated the victim's bowels by going through the intestinal wall.
The victim told police his wife washed the knife off and put it in the sink, prosecutors stated in the report.
Smith, 41, is also charged with third-degree felony obstructing justice and has been booked into Salt Lake County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
