Xojian Harry is the epitome of a great athlete. She plays volleyball, basketball, softball and runs track. And she isn't just good at all of those sports, she's one of the state's best.
But entering her junior year, she decided to give basketball all of her energy, according to Utah Flight basketball club director Mary Waters. She was named to the all-state team after averaging 16.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game for Woods Cross. After the club season, she had offers from BYU, Utah, UVU and Northern Arizona. In July, she verbally committed to play for BYU.
Now a senior, the honor student transferred to Viewmont this summer and is still a four-sport athlete.
Harry's Utah Flight teammate, Makenzi Morrison, who plays for Alta, also committed to BYU. She had offers and interest from Division I schools throughout the West but chose the Cougars because of the academic programs and head coach Jeff Judkins.
She is also a first-team all-state player and averaged 18 points, 4.5 assists and 4.2 steals per game last season. She was invited to the Nike Skills Academy in Oregon this spring and was named an all-star in the accompanying tournament.
The Cougars did not land all of the big-name recruits as Syracuse High Junior Brittney Martin decided she wants to take her skills to Utah. She had offers from Cal, ASU, BYU and Utah and interest from UCLS, USC, Oregon, Gonzaga, Washington, Colorado and about a dozen others.
"Brittney always knew that she wanted to play in the PAC-10, so when Utah was added earlier this year, it made her choice much easier," said her club coach Waters. "Utah has established a long-standing relationship with Brittney and her family. They have become a second family to her."
As a sophomore, Martin was named the 5A MVP and to the 5A All-Tournament Team. She led the Titans to a 5A title last season and was also invited to participate in the Nike Regional Skills Camp. She averaged 18.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists per game last season.
