Gervais said Heaps' future is bright. "I think he'll have an outstanding career at BYU. It's a great fit and I think the sky's the limit for both him and the BYU football team and the BYU offense with him as the quarterback."
Asked this week about Heaps' progress, Cougar coach Bronco Mendenhall said he's been "pleasantly surprised" by the true freshman.
"I look back on spring practice, which would still be Jake's senior year in high school. There were a number of plays and throws that Jake was making on the field and I had to remind myself, 'This is a senior in high school right now, rather than a redshirt sophomore quarterback.' I have been impressed with his level of understanding of offensive football, his accuracy and his ability to really make every throw we have asked of him to make in terms of a physical standpoint. I hadn't expected him to be this far along in terms of the decisions and the accuracy and delivering the football all over the field the way he has been."

Great article on Jake. I wish his family well If BYU is going to compete on the highest level as an independent, and have a shot at a BCS bowl it will ride on Jake Heaps, and his broad shoulders. Now give him the ball and let Magic Happen.
All I can say is this, "Go Jake!!!" My screen name will tell which one that was for, although I think Locker will be a good NFL Quarterback, by the time he is done, he is a great competitor and a great leader!
Reading between the lines, it is obvious that there is still a lot of anti-Mormon sentiment in Seattle. I used to live there and it seems that things haven't changed much. Hopefully, if Heaps is successful, it will have a positive effect in his home More..
