WEST POINT — The city of West Point is throwing itself a 75th birthday party Saturday.
The celebration will be held at Loy Blake Park, 3500 W. 550 North, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Activities will include watermelon-eating contests, a horseshoe-throwing competition and a Dutch oven cook-off.
A lot has changed in West Point in the past 75 years. According to a news release from the city, the average home price in 1935 was $3,450. Now, it's $200,000.
Parker Brothers had just released the board game Monopoly, which you can now play on an iPhone.
The city has created a photo history video that has been posted to YouTube at youtu.be/wa5Y1JM0ysc.
