SALT LAKE CITY — A 43-year-old man has been charged with three third-degree felonies after a court employee found threats against three judges.
On June 22, an employee at the justice court at 220 E. Morris Ave. in South Salt Lake found 15 notices taped on the doors of the court. One had photographs and career summaries of South Salt Lake Justice Court Judge Catherine Johnson and 4th District Court judges Lynn W. Davis and Steven L. Hansen, according to charges filed Thursday in 3rd District Court.
Below the photos and career summaries were large typed words, "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "criminal racketeering, humane trafficking and organized crime."
It was signed by Sean Fielding Smith, charges state. Attached to the court doors was a piece of paper showing Smith's next court date.
A South Salt Lake police officer arrested Smith, who charges list as being a transient, at his storage unit. The officer found papers that had the same words as those on the court doors.
Smith was charged with three counts of influencing, impeding or retaliating against a judge by threat, a third-degree felony.
