FOOTBALL: Utah senior running back Eddie Wide has been named as a candidate for the 2010 Doak Walker Award. The award is presented annually to the nation's top college running back.

Wide, the leading returning rusher in the Mountain West Conference (1,069 yards in 2009), was first-team all-MWC as a junior. He is a preseason all-conference pick heading into his senior year. In 2009, he became just the 10th player in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season, and holds the Utah record for consecutive 100-yard games with six.

Ten semifinalists will be announced in November.

Below is a full list of Utes named to watch lists this season:

Brandon Burton - Jim Thorpe Award (Defensive Back)

Joe Phillips - Lou Groza Place-Kicker Award

Caleb Schlauderaff - Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman)

Shaky Smithson - Paul Hornung Award (Most Versatile Player)

Zane Taylor - Outland Trophy (Interior Lineman)

Eddie Wide - Doak Walker (Running Back)
