BYU could be leaning toward remaining in the Mountain West Conference, according to a report in the Denver Post.
The Cougars have been mulling their options after their proposed plan of going independent in football, and playing in the Western Athletic Conference in other sports, was stymied last week when the MWC invited WAC members Fresno State and Nevada.
Denver post reporter Natalie Meisler, who covers Colorado State, wrote that "a number of sources" are telling her the "impasse could be resolved as soon as Thursday."
BYU associate athletic director Duff Tittle told the Deseret News Wednesday night, "Nothing has changed. BYU continues to explore all of its options. Eventually we'll do what's best for our program."
BYU has until Sept. 1 to notify the MWC if it staying in the conference through the 2011 season.
