Cache Valley replacing ambulances

LOGAN (AP) — Cache Valley emergency officials are replacing an aging ambulance fleet for the first time in five years.

Earlier this month, the Cache County Emergency Medical Services authority acquired three new ambulances they plan to house in Logan and Smithfield for use around the county.

Logan Assistant Fire Chief Brady Hansen says the new vehicles cost $182,000 each and will be outfitted with lettering and loaded with emergency equipment and radios from three soon-to-be retired ambulances.

CCEMS uses eight ambulances to respond to 911 emergency calls.

Two of the outgoing ambulances will be donated to first responder communities. The third will be kept as a backup at one of Logan's two fire stations.
