In response to Jon Burton's letter ("Reject school stimulus," Readers' Forum, Aug. 18), I respectfully disagree with his premise that we don't need more money for education in Utah. My mom is an elementary school teacher. She does not have an hour to sit around each school day. She does use what preparation time she has for correcting work, helping individual students, conferencing with parents and preparing lessons. She uses her personal money to make the school experience more enjoyable for her students. Sometimes she uses her personal money for things she considers to be necessary for her students. I see no waste of time or money. I see someone who cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I believe the money from the stimulus bill for education is needed and should be accepted until Utah finds a better way to financially support public education.
