MOUNTAIN GREEN, Morgan County — Boxes of frozen turkeys littered the highway in Morgan County Saturday after a semitrailer hauling them crashed.
The driver of the truck, who admitted to law enforcement after the crash that he had taken sleeping pills earlier in the day, crashed near mile marker 92 on I-84 near Mountain Green.
The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. when the truck hit the center median and a concrete wall.
The trailer broke open and scattered frozen turkeys across the highway, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
But that wasn't the first crash for the driver.
A hitchhiker who was with the driver told troopers the driver was acting "weird" and hit a speed limit sign and a delineator post as well.
The hitchhiker also told troopers the driver had mentioned taking sleeping pills and could not stay in his lane.
Troopers cited the driver for driving under the influence.
