WEST VALLEY CITY — An all-night walk to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday and run through 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Park, 5415 W. 3100 South.
Ten teams of residents will be walking in the West Bench Relay for Life. Team members take turns so one member is always walking — all through the night.
Funds go for cancer research, education, advocacy efforts and patient services in Utah. This event and others around the country help raise more than $100 million annually.
The event begins with a survivor dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with Julene Jolley of the Granite Board of Education speaking, followed by West Valley City Mayor Mike Winder kicking off the walk. The Molly Drive Band will perform 7-9 p.m. There also will be a midnight movie and breakfast at 7 a.m. Saturday, followed by closing ceremonies.
