PLEASANT GROVE — Two downtown businesses Tuesday received the city's Business Development Extra Mile Award for improving their property.

TestOut Corp. and Kate's Quilting Block each received the award for the recently constructed facades they placed on the buildings they occupy, which officials said was done at the companies' initiative. The city gives the award for achievement in commercial construction or improvements made to existing properties.

Three other downtown Pleasant Grove businesses also were recognized for their achievements in improving the area's environment. Pro Digital Photos, Karma Boutique and All Kinds of Flair each received the city's Award of Merit.
