SALT LAKE CITY — Morgan Philpot, Republican candidate for Utah's 2nd Congressional District, will conduct a Salt Lake City town hall meeting Thursday to address the questions and concerns of voters in Salt Lake County.
The meeting will be held at the Salt Lake City Library, 210 E. 400 South, from 7 to 9 p.m.
"One of the most basic responsibilities of a United States congressman is to meet with your constituents face-to-face and hear their concerns and criticisms," Philpot said in a news release.
Philpot has criticized Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, whose re-election bid Philpot is opposing, for holding telephone town hall meetings.
Matheson has said he rejects that kind of criticism.
"I am out in front of my constituents all the time," he said after being confronted with similar statements shortly after winning the Democratic primary election in June. "I'm always looking to reach out to my constituents."
