PROVO — BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe announced today that men's head volleyball coach Shawn Patchell has been dismissed from his duties at the university effective immediately.
Rob Neilson, who has been an assistant men's volleyball coach for the past three seasons, will serve as the interim coach of the Cougars' program.
Holmoe also indicated the university is conducting an investigation regarding potential NCAA violations in the volleyball program.
The university will have no further comment on the matter at this time.

Dismissed, huh? He coach couldn't get a job with the Seattle Seahawks? Coach at Kentucky? What is the world coming to when a coach gets fired for violations...
Imagine if BYU goes on probation as they attempt going Independent........
shut it down...it's over.
I hope they do a better job hiring this time. There are some great LDS volleyball coaches and I'm sure Patchell was just fine but hiring internally from a staff that had problems doesn't seem too bright.
