SALT LAKE CITY — A hospital spokesman says two Japanese tourists have been upgraded from critical to serious condition.
Intermountain Medical Center spokesman Jess Gomez said doctors upgraded the condition on Monday, one week after their van crashed in southern Utah. The patients' names are not being released because their families have asked for privacy.
Two men and two women had been in critical condition at the hospital south of Salt Lake City since the van rolled off Interstate 15 near Cedar City on Aug. 8. Gomez said he could not say which of the four patients have improved.
A 14-year-old girl injured in the crash remained in fair condition at Primary Children's Medical Center on Monday.
Three tourists in the group of 14 were killed.
Iron County prosecutors will decide whether charges are warranted.
