Public hearing delayed on urban renewal plan for four-block section of downtown Ogden
OGDEN — A public hearing about an urban renewal project plan for a four-block section of downtown has been delayed.
The hearing before the Ogden Redevelopment Agency, composed of the Ogden City Council, was set to take place Tuesday but the agency's Taxing Entity Committee has not yet authorized the plan's budget.
The hearing is now scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 24.
The RDA board in April determined that a blight existed in the East Washington Urban Renewal Project Area, which is bounded by 20th and 24th streets, Washington Boulevard and Adams Avenue. The area features commercial activities along Washington Boulevard and housing along alleys and Adams Avenue.
The city wants to use $18.1 million in tax increment financing for infrastructure improvements and incentives to owners or developers as a way to achieve an estimated $78 million in private investment over 20 years.
