Thunderstorm, flash flood watches for Dixie

Severe thunderstorm and flash-flood watches are in effect for most of southern Utah through late Sunday evening.

Meteorologist Mike Conger of the National Weather Service's Salt Lake office said a severe storm pattern is moving north into the state and could bring thunder, lightning, high winds and rain to southern and central Utah. A thunderstorm watch is currently posted for those areas until 9 p.m. Sunday.

Rain bursts from that weather pattern could also trigger canyon floods in extreme southern Utah, and a flash-flood watch is also in effect until 10 p.m.
