KAMAS — A Farr West man died and three other motorcyclists were hospitalized Saturday after a sport utility vehicle spun into their lane about six miles east of town on state Route 150, the Mirror Lake Highway.
Timothy Maycock, 53, and his wife, 50, were traveling on a motorcycle alongside a couple from Plain City who were also on a motorcycle, when the accident occurred about noon, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.
The Farr West woman was hospitalized in critical condition. The Plain City man and woman, also ages 53 and 50 respectively, were taken to a hospital in serious condition, Roden said. The names of the three injured people were not released.
Before spinning into the lane where the motorcycles were traveling, the driver of the SUV rear-ended a minivan in his lane, which then struck a stopped pickup truck trying to turn left.
The SUV driver was not hurt and neither were the occupants in the truck and van, but the truck and van were badly damaged, Roden said.
Troopers are conducting an investigation before any citations are issued, Roden said. Officials did not know what caused the SUV driver to lose control.
