PROVO — Ancestry.com, Inc. announced Friday that it has acquired the genealogy research firm ProGenealogists, Inc.
Salt Lake City-based ProGenealogists specializes in genealogical, forensic and family history research. The company will provide dedicated, personal support to family history researchers and will enhance the Expert Connect program, said David Rinn, senior vice president of strategy and corporate development for Ancestry.com.
In the past, the two companies have worked together on projects such as NBC's "Who Do You Think You Are?" The show traced the family histories of multiple celebrities.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed Friday, but Ancestry.com does not expect the acquisition to have a material impact on its financial guidance as issued in connection with its second-quarter earnings released on July 29, according to a media release from the company.
At the closing bell Friday, Ancestry.com stock was trading at $20.02, down 34 cents for the day. The average stock price has hovered around $16 per share over the past 10 months.
