There comes a time when good things happen to those wait.

Layton Christian has waited, and now has the chance to become an impact team in 1A football.

Year in and year out, LCA is faced with the uphill battle of restructuring their football team. A small private school, LCA often times struggles to fill all the positions with student athletes.

Things remain the same this season, but a handful of returning starters are poised to take over and lead this team.

Andrew Griffin returns for a final stint at quarterback. He's a bit undersized, but has averaged over 1,000 yards passing in his past two seasons.

Sophomore Nick Edwards is a 6-foot running back, who some say will become the future star of the team. Edwards can also handle the ball in the air and should make his quarterback's job simple if he can stay healthy.

Offensively, LCA has taken strides to become faster and smarter which will open up their game and hopefully result in wins.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles have multiple impact players that will help this team drastically improve. Seniors Denzel Gibson and Akseli Kaasalaineal lead a group of players that are poised to do great things defensively. Underclassmen Colin Greenhill and Nic Perry are both hard workers at the linebacker position.

Coach: Will Hawes is returning for his fourth year at Layton Christian with an 11-18 record. Hawes is a graduate of Locke High School in California.

Griffin is 469 passing yards away from 3,000 career yards at the helm of LCA football. For a player averaged well over a 1,000 yards a season, most can bet on the QB having great success. Edwards will be handling the ball on the ground and in the air, as the sophomore sensation should make a big impact on the Eagles offense.
